Where Do I Go With Speech and Debate?

This just talks about debating and freedom of speech.Like how well are you in front of crowd. Do you love to debate on an issue. Mainly that's what it talks about like how confident you can be a talk in front of a lot of people. Like talking about the government, acting, sales, broadcasting, law, speechwriting, library, public relations., counseling, and corporate trainer. These all have something to do with debate or speech. Can you do any of these? Maybe you can or maybe not. Try it. I like debate because then you can argue with other people about an issue. Doing a speech is not really my thing, but its alright.

Setting Her Sites

This talk about Robin Liss who was a recent college student who is now a (CEO) of her own company, which is called Reviewed.com. When Liss was 12 years old she started building web sites for fun and making claymation with her own camcorder. One she thought why don't she combined the two things she loves to do so much and make a career out of it, and that's exactly what she did. Because now she has her own company and she runs the whole entire thing. Liss is the youngest one out of all her employees. Liss has strict rules for her employees like: they can not accept gifts from manufactures. and they are not allowed to interact with the advertising sales team. So she's on the ball with her company and says that millions of people every month make a purchase based on what our editors say.

Working on the Railroad

This talks about being an conductor and the ways of the job. On the job conductors take tickets, collect fares, answer passenger's questions, and ensure that the passengers are riding safely. They also have to make sure that the train is in good condition; like making sure all the doors work and the lights. Yardmasters are people who tell the trains where to go and keeping them in on the right track and they do engine cleaning and maintenance by directing trains to the right stations. Being a conductor sounds pretty easy, but its not something I would do. I sounds like fun career job to do though.

E-Learning: The Anytime, Anywhere Option

E-Learning is about online schooling, and working at your own pace, and not have to worry about missing days. Just basically on your own time and anywhere. As long as you have internet. I wouldn't mind taking online courses I mean it would be a lot easier and faster to do ( I could get a lot of work done)and you don't have to worry about sitting in a long boring class room. You could just sit at home or the library. You can even chat with other people that are taking online courses like get help from them besides the teacher. I think that sounds really awesome and quick. I wouldn't mind giving it a try.

This talks about a crime that was made by Jeanson James Ancheta. He was only 20 years old and a dropout. Jeanson was also in a secret society of hackers called the Botmaster Underground( this allow someone to gain control over the computer system)The hackers were experts at what they did in including Jeasnson, he was able to infect 400,000 computers. When the cyber security specialists at the FBI discovered Jeanson's operation, they went undercover and went to the chat rooms as customers. Jeanson thinking their were just anybody sold some of his bots to them. Jeanson then got caught and was arrested November 2005, he pleaded guilty and was sentences to four to six years in prison. I mean who would do something like this I mean its smart but very wrong. Eventually he would've got caught I mean its the internet you never know who's on it. That's how he got caught thinking the were just some random people and little did he know it was the FBI. How freaked he must of been when they told him about how he got caught. Now he probably learned his lesson and doing something that crazy. I think a few years a prison should make him realize a lot of things. Will he won't being doing this again.

LINKED IN TO MYSPACE

When on Myspace you can get in contact with friends and family and also meet new people. It's really fun I like it a lot. I have Myspace and I love hearing from my friends that I haven't seen awhile. It's a really cool website, you could put your pictures and video's and more stuff on their if you want to. It's another way to reach out the world (sounds cheesy), but anyways. It is faster and more reliable to use (I think. William says that he finds Myspace a perfect avenue for finding music gigs all around the country.

YOU.COM

You.com is a personal website that you have you your personal things. You can choose who ever you want to view your profile like a (URL). You can but you line of work on their and more. Kate Levinson recently graduated from Ithaca College, and she has a her personal profile on you.com and she is looking for a job in the nonprofit field. She controls whatever she wants on her page and everything. Their also another person who is on you.com his name is Jamelle Williams who is an educator as well as a musician. On you.com he is able to share his recording, gigs, performances, resume, and photos. He says its a good marketing tool.

Then their are other ways to get in contact like message boards,or posting a blog, but who have to be careful of what information you put on their because you never know people these days. Other then that the web is just fine and fun too.

Jacob's Cool Computer Program and Web-Search Woes

Wow! this Jacob guys is really something. I mean fixing computer that must be very interesting to do( I want to try....J/k) I mean not having it go to waste, what his doing is really cool and it helps out a lot people. I mean his thinking of others and wants people to know about the internet. His doing something that probably takes him awhile to do and just giving them to people who don't have a computer and showing them what you can do with it. Jacob is doing a great job help and doing what he can.He even got a program and that called computer-refurbishing for prison inmates to learn technology skills to help them land jobs in the future. Jacobs got many awards, but his not doing this for money his. His just helping and that really cool.

Web-Search Woes
This talks about how 6,300 high school and college students had to evaluate a set of five Web sites for objectivity, authority, and timeliness. Only half of the students found one website and even some of the students had a hard time finding web searches. All of students need to work on their critical thinking skills.

L!ght$! C@m3r@! Act!on!

This talks about being interviewed on computer. Its like a video resume(they call it) Liz Harvey says it would be easier that way. Because talk to them makes it more better then writing it on a sheet of paper. That way you can take a good like at the person who's giving you the interview. All you have to do is be professional, concise, enthusiastic, and balance creativity with professionalism.

M@pp!ng Y0ur Futur3

Making mapping seems like a very tuff job to do. I don't think I'd want to do that. It seems very hard and confusing. They have to deal with landforms, major roads, and waterways. Did you know the they use units to gather information for satellites orbiting around the earth, which broadcasts their position to get longitude and latitude. Wow! that's cool. The main part of map making is Geographic Information Systems, a type of database software. They could database any information they want. Some websites deal with map making also like Maps.com and earth.google.com. They even publish companies to make maps in history books( World History & American History&Government) When your a map making you get to travel and see different parts of the world. They say if your interested in cartography you have to take a lot of geography classes and computer programming classes and also you have to be good in algebra. They recommended it anyone who's interested they say its hot career job for the 21st century. It sound interesting and very fun, but not something I would do. Because they say you have to be good in algebra (ha! math it my worst subject). But it looks interesting and it seems like takes a lot of work to do and a lot of concentration.

DO YOU WONDER

This just tells you that biology is fun to do,and being a scientist is fun too. Biology deals with a lot of things like plants, colors, and nature. So basically everything around you deals with some kind of science. Like mathematics deal with biology and communication also. Their are many ways to become a scientist.

OUTSIDE THE LAB

You could be a genetic counselor, which works with families and birth. They need people with good people skills, also they have to be good in math, or you could be a Science/technical editors, they edit professional journals, consumer science magazines , and educational materials. Also you could be a Environmental lawyer, which they fight for the wildlife animals and try to protect them from being captured or harm of any kind. Basically your just being a good lawyer and helping out the animals. You could be a Nurse, which they need to know how the body works and how medicine can affect the body. They probably have to know a lot more stuff then that. Last but not least you could become a science teacher, which they all need at a high school or even college. They have to be well-trained educators.

CUTTING-EDGE RESEARCH

All doctors have to deal with science they have to know about every bone in your and how it works. Most doctors spend their time conducting biological research. Their are all types of doctors such as, Pathologist, Oncologist, Immunologist, Industrial biologist, Biotechnologist, Bioinformatics, and a Microbiologist.

UP CLOSE WITH NATURE

You could be a Wildlife biologists, which are people who work with animals that live in the wild. They have to figure out if the animal is dying off or thriving. They even have to see what type of environment they live on so their not being hurt. They check for global warming or the pollution, because that can affect animals and people. Or you could become a park ranger, which are people who protect the park and making sure its safe while telling visitors about the natural wonders.

I think all this jobs are very interesting and they give a lot of opportunities and how they do their job. So you have a good description of what to expected if you interested in any of these jobs.

How do most employee's spend their vacation? Usually if its a business man they usually work while on vacation. Most employee's spend time with their family. I think being on a vacation means taking time off because you work all the time(that's if you work all the time and if you deserve it),but most people usually work while on vacation I don't get that. If your on (vacation) you should enjoy it not work. If you were just going to work on your vacation then you should of just stayed at work. Looking at this survey more people work then relax. About 76% people work while in vacations and 54% not work while on vacation. Don't get that, but I guess if they want to work they can its there choice.

Their is a lot of ways to be creative you could work at a bank or the hospital. It doesn't matter people are just looking for innovation ideas and unique ways to solve a problem. Theirs a lot of ways you can be creative like by; designing a sneaker, construct your page on MySpace, or making a playlist on your I-Pod. Creativity is the combination of talent and effort that produces that is both novel and useful. It doesn't take a genius to be creative, all it takes is confident and believing in yourself and not giving up. For example 18 year old Hardeep Singh of Waterbury,Conn. For a science bowl he wanted to build a fuel car that ran on water and electricity. He says he took a lot of science class, but he wasn't no genius, and he didn't think he could do it at first, but he says he tried ever possible idea until he figured it out. Surprisingly he won first place at the 2006 contest, a national competition organized by the U.S Patent and Trademark Office and the National Inventors Hall of Fame Foundation. Also challenging yourself to find new answers can intellect and make you more of a risk taker, says Keith Sawyer, an associate professor of education at Washington University in St. Louis and the author of several books on creativity. Take for another example 16 year old Emily Tsaconas from California. Emily's been a baller dancer since she was 4. She says her dedication to her art spills over her schoolwork, giving her focus on drive. Emily says being comfortable with my creativity helps me a lot in dancing, especially during those situations we we're asked to improvise. She says she use to freeze up when put on the top like that, but she realized that she just has to be confident and go for it. She may not have the best steps ever but when there's limited time, anything is better than nothing. All creativity is about is never giving up and just going with what you want to accomplish and go towards your goals. Because being afraid, and not thinking you can do it well hurt you. It's all about believing in you and going for it all. Because at the end of the day your going to be a winner. It's because you tired and you didn't give up.

GO ORGANIC

If you were interested in organic food, guess what? There's a school for it(Washington State University in Pullman). Their is also other schools that offer different majors like if your interested in agriculture concentration. In Washington State organic agriculture students have to take biology, chemistry, soil science, and economics. A recent graduate Jewlee Sullivan goal was to grow her own food and run a small food. She said it took a lot of sciences classes. She enjoyed it because you get to be in the outdoors a lot. Also getting an organic degree doesn't mean you have to become a grower you can work in the marketing and business sector, or a buyer or a seller for an organic food company. If your interested in this career check out their website at afs.wsu.edu/organic.htm.

HAVE SOME SERIOUS FUN

Do you like to build a plush toy, a doll, a toy car, or designing a game. If so, you could go to school at College of Art and Design in Southern California. A student who attends this college name Keith Noordzy, class of 2007, designed a line of action figures and he calls them " kind of like 20,000 Leagues Under the Sea meets Mad Max. Students who attend this school have to take courses in drawing, model making, brainstorming, concept development, digital rendering, and child psychology. Students who have graduated from this school have gone off to work for big companies such as Crayola, Mattel, and Fisher-Price. Only two schools offer this type of major the other school is Fashion Institute of Technology in New York. If you are interested in this major check out their website artschools.org.

C.O.D: Careers on Delivery

There are many different types of ways to mail things like: Mail-processing clerk, mail handler, sales, services, and distribution associate, carrier, sales, and information technology,or accounting.Their are so many opportunities says Bory's Dudar and Alicia Tutt who have found being a USPS person very interesting for them and they love their jobs.Their are over 70,000 workers who work in the Postal Services and their are 300 categories for different positions, also 38,000 post offices, branches, and stations throughout the United States. Making the Grade

I think Mr.Dinkins is a very nice and cool teacher. It seems has if he loves what he does. Basically his trying to make learning fun for his students. I think he's setting a really good positive goal for them. Using rap in his class I thinks that's cool. I wish my teachers did that. Because a lot of kids listen to it now days so there familiar with it. I think his going the right way in his teaching and just making his students comfortable with him. That's what teaching his all about being able to connect with your students and believing in them. Mr. Dinkins has a lot of confidence in his students I can tell because he's making learning fun and most of all he wants his students to rise to the top. He made a smart choice in becoming a teacher.
